145 Nassau Street, New York, NY (Potter Building)
Built in 1886, 145 Nassau Street is a historical landmark building. The exterior architecture is out of this world – it is very ornate and has a lot of character. We were hired to completely renovate the corridors as well as raise the ceilings.
During construction, many original moldings and details were discovered as the ceilings were being torn down. It is amazing what you can find when you start to peel back the layers of design history.
Some of the materials that we used include Ulster Axminster carpet that resembles a watercolor pattern, White Koroseal wallcovering and, custom designed Bronze mid-century style light fixtures.
Our goal was to give the hallways an updated feeling but maintain some of the integrity of the building. Essentially, we wanted the new design to be “modern meets historic.”
